INTRODUCTION
Sniffles, sneezes and chills go hand in hand with the cold weather. We all know how unpleasant colds can be. Fortunately, there are a number of tricks you can use to boost your immune system and beat the common cold before it even starts.
– SLEEP
One of the most obvious ways to prevent a cold is to get a good night’s sleep. This is not only good for your skin, but also important for your health and an intact immune system. When you sleep, your body is able to produce cells that strengthen the immune system by regulating the release of the stress hormone cortisol. This boost strengthens the immune system.
– EXERCISE
Yes, even when it’s freezing outside, it’s worth going to the gym. We’re not saying you should do a hard workout, just enough to get your heart rate and blood pumping! When you work out, you’re making your body sweat, which releases toxins that your body doesn’t need.
– A COLD SHOWER
This next point might not sound as fun, but it actually works. At the end of your shower, turn the temperature down a few degrees for 10 seconds before turning it back up to warm. Repeat this at least twice. The change in temperature gets your body moving, and the change from hot to cold creates steam, which is great for unclogging nasal passages and relieving sinus pain.
Of course there are many more tips and tricks, but these are the ones that work best for us. A cold or flu is not always preventable, but you can make it easier to prevent most of them.
